Nothing can be said about the Bayern game that hasn't already been said, but I'd like to reiterate my congratulations to everyone at the club. To come so close with ten men against so great a side is fantastic. Here's to going further next year. Video soon.

Bayern Munich 1 - 1 Getafe
As Marca's peerless headline reads: "Bayern, éste es el Getafe."
Yes, this is Getafe, and they've given themselves a wonderful chance of progression.
Bayern were well on top as Luca Toni opened the scoring midway through the first half, but a comedy of errors at both ends in the second period eventually climaxed in a cheeky Cosmin Contra lob levelling the scores.
Now, next week will be very interesting!
Here are the match highlights. It's a lengthy video: Bayern's goal is around the 1:40 mark and Getafe's around 6.

Getafe 0 - 2 Osasuna
On a grim, rainy day at the Coliseum, Osasuna ran out 2-0 winners in a match that saw Cosmin Contra sent off early on.

Bayern Munich - Getafe
Getafe have been drawn against FC Bayern München in the quarter-final of the UEFA Cup. That's perhaps the toughest of all draws.
Meanwhile, Geta welcome Racing on Sunday in the Liga, before travelling to Santander to play them yet again in the second leg of the Copa del Rey midweek.
It's non-stop.

Through To The Last Eight
Juan Angel Albin proved too much for Benfica, who spurned one fine chance early on against Getafe and were then largely on the back foot.
In short, a 1-0 home win over the Portuguese side sees Geta through to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup 3-1 on aggregate.
The Azulones also thrashed Murcia at the weekend - as such, coach Michael Laudrup is very much a man in demand.
Tonight, though, he'll just be celebrating. What a fine win.
Update: A video of Albin's goal:

Benfica 1 - 2 Getafe
What better way to make up for the disappointment of the 3-3 weekend draw than with a colossal away win at one of Europe's most famous arenas? (Albeit a mostly empty one.)
Oscar Cardozo's hilarious ninth-minute sending-off helped Geta immeasurably, but there was little denying the quality of play on offer at times.
First, Ruben de la Red had a shot from the edge of the area deflected past Quim (fnarr) by Edcarlos.
Midway through the second half, Pablo Hernandez hit a trundler from the edge of the box with sufficient accuracy to sneak in at the far post.
Osky was at fault as Benfica pulled one back; he was partially unsighted, but still should have dealt with Pedro Mantorras' long-range effort.
It's a superb result, and it no doubt has many believing that Geta can make it to the next round. Also encouraging was the input of Braulio, who had a fine first half overall, although he faded a bit later on.
Good times, basically.

AEK 1 - 1 Getafe
A largely even game in Athens was almost decided by a calamitous defensive error from the hosts.
The Athenians had the best of the first half, but Geta ended pretty strongly, and were rewarde dwith a goal. Manu strode up the right flank and cut the ball across goal to Braulio, but the on-loan Atleti man couldn't quite reach it. Thankfully for Geta, though, the AEK defender cleared the ball dreadfully - and only as far as Ruben de la Red, who stroked home three minutes from time.
However, deep into stoppage time, Blanco netted after a corner to give the Greeks a fighting chance in the second leg.
That gives Geta a narrow advantage ahead of the second leg, although I imagine that AEK will play with much greater intensity than they did here.
If we get through, it's either Nuremberg or - more likely - Benfica in the next round.

Squad For AEK, And More
Against the odds, the club seems to be wheeling out the big guns for the trip to Athens.
With Liga survival still nowhere near assured, I thought it likely that they'd rotate heavily, but the 18-man convocatoria speaks for itself:

Well, I suppose it remains to be seen who actually starts, but in any case, confidence is low, as this team isn't half of what it could be with Esteban Granero. We miss you, pirate guy.
In any case, things are still lurching along as usual in the Liga. Three defeats, two wins and a draw since the turn of the year is survival form at best, but who knows, maybe we can get another backdoor European ticket via the Copa. Racing are struggling, so the semi-final could go our way.
Angel Torres, the Real Madrid-supporting chairman, has said that he'll stand down in a year or two. Whether or not this is a good thing is too early to say, but it's remarkable the progress that we've made under him, and he'll always be remembered for that.

Getafe Top Group G After Anderlecht Win
Not even Bart Goor could rescue Anderlecht from the inevitable: Pablo Hernandez (man of the match) and Celestini netted the goals to put Getafe through thanks to a 2-1 win over the Belgians at the Coliseum.
Anderlecht still qualify, of course, along with Geta and Spurs, but that's a fine result and, more importantly, it puts Geta top of Group G with all matches having been played.
As such, the draw for the next round could prove more than favourable, although there are still some tough teams that could come out of the hat. We'll see.

Yuletide Redux
Time has been at a premium of late, but Getafe roll on:
Dec 6 - Getafe contrive to almost throw away an easily-gained 1-0 lead against AaB in Aalborg, eventually prevailing 2-1 in a game that was much harder than it had to be.
Dec 9 - Atletico Madrid squeeze through to the most undeserved win of the century at the Calderon with both Getafe and the hosts having two men sent off. Pato and Licht get reds for the good guys, while Reyes and Kun Aguero do so for Atleti.
Dec 10-13 - The Spanish disciplinary committee finish constructing their giant statue of Kun Aguero and, prostrating themselves below it, annul the Argentine's second yellow card, borne of a truly atrocious dive in front of Pato. As such, while the Geta goalie and Licht languish in the stands, Kun is free to face Recreativo on Sunday. The admittedly-gifted whippet then spends a fine afternoon in Huelva getting hacked left, right and centre as boos ring out around the Colombino. The hostile reception is due to the fact that the cheeky scamp scored via handball against Recre once in the past in an aincident that perhaps mirrored another deliberate* handball that took place against Getafe on December 9th.
Dec 12 - A heavily-weakened Getafe side scrapes past third-tier side Burgos 1-0 away from home in the Copa del Rey. Any visiting supporter may have been struck by the vast contrast between Burgos, a study in Spanish imperial opulence, and Getafe's own Calle de Madrid, a fine example of iron-shuttered suburban despair. But at least the latter has a good football team, so stick that in your pipe and smoke it, El Cid.
Dec 16 - Villarreal pap Getafe 3-1 at the Coliseum in a performance reminiscent of our early-season woes. Nihat ran rings around the Azulones, the midfield was off-colour, and it took Kepa Blanco of all people to pull one back for the hosts. Just when onlookers began to suspect that the former Sevilla man was a player - two goals in two games! - he promptly skied the penalty that could have given Getafe the path to an unlikely draw. Still, there's no point in blaming him for what was overall a very poor team performance.
Dec 18 - Marca claims that coach Laudrup wants a versatile defender who can play both left and centre in the January transfer window. Apparently the boss has no faith in Franck Signorino nor Manuel Tena, which would explain why the former only gets games in the cups and/or when everyone was injured and why the latter is on orange-slicing duty. No names have yet been mooted.
Heart-rendingly, Laudrup's dear old mum then emerges in the Danish press to relate a tale of how she, as an unmarried 16-year-old in conservative Denmark - almost had her firstborn aborted at her own mother's insistence, only to be saved by the kindly intervention of her dad, who claimed to be unable to find a back-alley abortion clinic. Cheerful stuff.
Later on Dec 18 - A very-much-unaborted Michael Laudrup names the following squad to meet Anderlecht:

Ikechukwu Uche was thought to be on the verge of recovery, but it seems as if he'll miss this game, while David Cortes and Francisco Sousa are also out.
It's more than likely that the side will be rotated, but with one point sealing passage to the next round, it may not be totally changed. Pato, for example, may take up position in goal after missing the weekend tie.
Anderlecht, meanwhile, have Bart Goor in their squad. He's a class act. The rest of them can go to hell.
Forza Geta!
*Aguero called it accidental as the world guffawed in disbelief.

Squad To Face AaB Aalborg
Here's the squad for tonight's game:
Goalkeepers: 1. Ustari; 13. Pato.
Defenders: 2. Contra; 3. Cata Díaz; 4. Belenguer; 5. Mario; 12. Licht; 19. Signorino; 21. D. Cortés.

Attackers: 9. Braulio; 14. Manu; 16. Albín; 17. Kepa.
Sousa and Casquero rested due to knocks, Uche still injured. Coach Laudrup will show up wearing a crown and sceptre - apparently he's still kind of a big deal in Denmark, on account of him being bloody brilliant as a player.
Geta, of course, won 2-1 against Levante at the weekend, Braulio scoring twice to effectively give the finger to his doubters (e.g. me.) Albin also did well, so those two may start again tonight, although as everyone keeps saying, the Liga's the priority.
Either way, that bloody stupid loss to Hapoel last week has made this a game that Geta really cannot afford to lose. A win could also see enough to see us through if Spurs lose to Anderlecht, but it looks like it'll really come down to next week, when the Belgians come to the Coliseum... assuming all goes well tonight, of course.
I don't even know, actually, the UEFA Cup's a bitch to figure out because of the staggered fixtures. The only certainty is that if we lose, the people of Aalborg will surely regard Laudrup as a child would Santa after being told that he isn't real.

Squad Announced For Hapoel Tel Aviv Match
Squad to meet Hapoel Tel Aviv:
Oh, and the less said about the 1-1 draw with Zaragoza at the weekend, the better. We should have won that, but for Pato's error.
Porteros: 1. Ustari; 13. Pato.
Defensas: 2. Contra; 3. Cata Díaz; 4. Belenguer;
12. Licht; 19. Signorino; 21. D. Cortés.
Centrocampistas: 7. Mario Cotelo; 10. De la Red;
11. Sousa; 15. Nacho; 22. J. Casquero; 24. Pablo Hernández; 25. Granero.
Delanteros: 9. Braulio; 14. Manu; 16. Albín; 17. Kepa.

Contra and Belenguer are back and fully fit, then, but there's no Uche, who is out for two to three weeks.
Still, that should be enough to see us past a singularly awful Hapoel outfit who are still bottom of the Israeli top division. True enough, they've started to turn it around a bit lately, and they've parted ways with their old manager... but, c'mon now. Home advantage? One loss in seven? Aye, it's all Geta here.

Tottenham Hotspur 1 - 2 Getafe
It could be a pub quiz question in future: what was Martin Jol's last game in charge of Spurs?
Step forward Getafe, for it was Super Geta that inflicted on him his final defeat as Tottenham boss, winning 2-1 in a close-fought and very, very nervy game at White Hart Lane.
In truth, the London outfit were on top for much of the encounter, particularly during the second half, but Getafe showed opportunism and character to pick up three vital and historic points in the UEFA Cup Group Stage.
All that said, Getafe started by far the brighter side, which made it a shock when Jermain Defoe made it 1-0 for the hosts 19 minutes in. The striker got on the end of a bobbling header from Berbatov and hit past Ustari for the lead.
But the ever-classy Ruben de la Red equalised just two minutes later, his former Real Madrid teammate Esteban Granero crossing in for the youngster.
The remainder of the first half was largely even but, as the second began, it was all Spurs.
Defoe, Malbranque, Berbatov - they all tried their luck, but against the run of play, Getafe managed an unlikely goal, and one that would end up sealing the three points.
It was former Atletico Madrid prodigy Braulio who jinked the ball home with precocious arrogance, the vastly-improved Cortes' right wing cross seeing the striker beat his marker.
Pato Abbondanzieri, on for Ustari at half time, was all at sea for the closing stages, and more than once Spurs might have equalised.
But somehow the ball stayed out, and the small band of traveling supporters were on hand to witness Getafe's second European victory in three matches and, one might say, by far their most impressive in terms of results.

Squad For Spurs Trip
The official club website has had the squad details for the UEFA Cup match at Tottenham Hotspur up for over a day now, but I was too lazy to put it up here until this point.
Here it is, anyway:
Here it is, anyway:
Goalkeepers: 1. Ustari; 13. Pato.
Defenders: 3. Cata Díaz; 4. Belenguer; 12. Licht; 19. Signorino; 21. D. Cortés.

Attackers: 9. Braulio; 14. Manu; 17. Kepa.
As usual, Laudrup's put together a midfield-heavy squad; then again, the actual playing squad simply is midfield-heavy.
Cosmin Contra's still out at the back, but the big news is that Franck Signorino's finally made it into the pool. I don't know if he'll displace Licht at left-back or not, but it's good to have an option there.
Celestini's been left out, but both Granero and de la Red are in the squad, while Albin could potentially play up front at a push.
But, above all, there is no Uche. He's hardly been prolific so far this season but that's a very notable omission; true enough, two of the other strikers are young guys, but do they really have the burst of pace that Ikechukwu has?
Assuming we're not pinned back into our own half by an ill-timed Spurs revival, we'll find out tomorrow night.
